OK, so it’s a Brave St. Production but I produced and shot it for them along with the very talented supervising producer, Christopher Voos. ‘Magic Man’ is a documentary about a boxer in Brooklyn named Paulie Malignaggi who worked his way up from an abusive childhood to a title opportunity against one of the greatest boxers out there (Miguel Cotto) on New York’s grandest stage: Madison Square Garden. This project was a lot of work, a lot of travel, a lot of time and dedication and a lot of amazing moments. Learning Paulie’s story was fascinating and he and his crew are great guys to be around. It made filming in the locker room after the bout one of the things I’ll remember first when I’m retired one day looking back on my career.
